Who are we?

We are Giant Hearts Giant Dog Rescue (GHGDR for short), a female owned and operated rescue, based in Virginia. We began intake of dogs in 2011 as a 501c3 Nonprofit Organization, and fully insured Limited Liability Company.

We are a team of powerful, courageous, and determined individuals striving to provide better lives for the Giants that have stolen our hearts. We are not afraid that they stand taller than us and bark louder than we can talk. We are grandmothers, mothers, daughters and survivors who have had at least one experience where we were the ones being rescued by the Giant we were supposed to be rescuing.   

Our organization is fully foster and volunteer based, we have no physical shelter. Volunteers share a passion for helping Giant Breed dogs find their forever home. They donate their free time, cars, gas money and space in their homes to ensure our Giants are safe, loved and cared for. So many of our volunteers go above and beyond anything we could ever ask of them, they are the reason we can pursue rescue.

GHGDR's Operations Team, consists of the President, Vice President, Accounting Manager, Adoption Coordinator and Intake Coordinator. This team manages the behind the scenes work that most forget about. They work as a team to maintain the highest standard of care for all Giants, and a high standard of integrity for one another.
