Tiny is a 4yr old 113lb Great Dane that came to us after being rescued from a home with 50+ dogs. She is a little timid in meeting new people, but that does not last long as she is a true lovebug. She is good with kids, cats and dogs outside of the home. Due to her lack of boundaries she can be a bit bossy in the home with other dogs. She has shown some signs of being dog selective (she likes some, she does not like others). She needs someone to have a firm and consistent manner with her and work with her on boundaries. She has been in a home with elementary school aged children and sometimes forgets she is a big girl. For this reason we are suggesting she not go to a home with very small children. She is very playful, super sweet, and learning boundaries. She is housebroken and all around a great pup!
We are a non profit organization devoted to helping abandoned or surrendered giant breed dogs (Great Danes, Mastiffs, Saint Bernards and more) in the Virginia area. GHGDR is an all volunteer organization who dedicate their personal time to the giant breeds in need.
The giant breed dogs come to us from various situations: financial reasons, development of allergies, families moving away and unable to take the dog with them, and many more. Some dogs are found as strays with no identification to locate their original family.
Occasionally we will rescue dogs from hoarders or from abusive situations. The reason a giant breed dog comes to us is not as important as our mission to take care of the giant breed dogs, ensure they are healthy and find them loving forever homes. They all need our help and we need yours.
If you are interested in adopting a giant breed dog, start by looking at our Available Dogs page. They all come from different situations but they all share the desire to be loved and to love back. Our available dogs are just waiting to be by your side and keep your feet warm at night!
We are here to guide you and help you find the right giant breed dog for you and your family. If we don't have your perfect giant breed dog, we can help you with other rescue organizations to find the perfect giant breed for you. We only want to help each giant breed dog find a forever home. We make every effort to ensure the dog will be a perfect match for your family. Please contact us and we'll help narrow down which dogs will be best for you.
